Family Movie Night: Bolt and Fireproof

We hope you’ll join us tonight (Friday, April 24th) for a very special family movie night. After eating pizza at 6:30, kids and their parents will watch two different movies.

Bolt

Bolt

The kids will be watching the Disney movie “Bolt.” It’s about a dog who plays a genetically-altered super-mutt named Bolt on a TV show named Bolt-but, like Buzz Lightyear in the first Toy Story, he doesn’t realize that he’s living in a world of fiction. He thinks the TV show is real, and that he is really lifting cars with his teeth and burning holes through metal objects with his laser vision, and that Penny (Miley Cyrus), the girl who raised him, really needs him to protect her every week. He doesn’t realize there are special-effects teams around every corner, anticipating and recording his every superheroic move.   Christianity Today says, “As entertainment, Bolt does deliver. It’s funny, charming, and a feast for the eyes. It is also quite probably the best animated film made by Disney in years.”

Fireproof

Fireproof Your Marriage

When it opened in theaters nationwide, FIREPROOF touched the hearts and impacted the marriages of millions of moviegoers. Despite playing in fewer than 1,000 theaters each week, the film opened at No. 4 and remained in the top 10 for three weeks (followed by two more weeks at No. 11)! The Love Dare, originally a plot device, became the No. 1 bestseller on the New York Times paperback advice list.

From Dr. Phil to Dr. Dobson, from FamilyLife Today to the Today Show, FIREPROOF provided a forum to remind America of God’s design for marriage and relationships.

At work, Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter’s adage: Never leave your partner behind. At home, in the cooling embers of his marriage, he lives by his own rules.

Growing up, Catherine Holt always dreamed of marrying a loving, brave firefighter… just like her daddy. Now, after seven years of marriage, Catherine wonders when she stopped being “good enough” for her husband.

Regular arguments over jobs, finances, housework and outside interests have readied them both to move on to something with more sparks. As the couple prepares to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb’s father challenges his son to commit to a 40-day experiment: The Love Dare. Wondering if it’s even worth the effort, Caleb agrees-for his father’s sake more than for his marriage. When Caleb discovers the book’s daily challenges are tied into his parents’ newfound faith, his already limited interest is further dampened.
